It was with great pleasure that INCA welcomed Dr Peter Rickaby to present on PAS 2035 and PAS 2038 at the INCA Annual General Meeting on 6th October 2021 at the National Space Centre in Leicester.
Although a subject you either love or hate, we were reminded of the early industry issues that caused concern and the government need for PAS to improve standards. It was refreshing to hear that it had been noted that the industry has stepped up to the plate and demonstrated the good quality that we all know can be delivered. It was also pleasing to hear that the team involved in PAS are committed in making it simpler, more efficient and where possible re-address some of the concerns to make it EWI more practical to install.
There is a new PAS document known as PAS 2038 due out soon that will look at non-residential refurbishment. Dr Rickaby guided INCA members through the process which reflects those set out within PAS 2035 but in a more simplistic manner and allowing professionals such as Architects and Surveyors to take the lead in place of Retrofit Designers and Retrofit Coordinators.
