From humble beginnings as a WWII airfield, Silverstone has become the absolute ‘home of British motor racing’. The surrounding area is populated with a large number of motorsport-related companies and is commonly referred to as ‘motorsport valley’.

Escapade Silverstone is a development of 60 residences and a clubhouse located on the edge of the Silverstone Circuit. The residences range between 2-4 bedrooms and offer views of both the track and countryside. The complex includes amenities such as a driver-focused gym, pool, sauna, treatment rooms, restaurant, bar, and roof terrace. Each residence has been meticulously crafted and designed to provide contemporary accommodation on the edge of the track. The exterior finish consists of a mixture of a modern bright silicone render along with cedar timber cladding sections to amplify detail and capture that countryside vibe.

The project involved the application of Johnstone’s StormShield advanced EWI system from PPG to enhance the thermal performance and aesthetic appeal of the building.

The designer considered sustainable efficiency from the offset and designed these Eco-Friendly buildings with enhanced insulated properties. Utilising a Johnstone’s 150mm Enhanced EPS EWI System, they achieved a minimum through-wall U Value of 0.19. There were site challenges logistically, as the circuit remined open for events, track days and vehicle testing, all of which, needed to be worked around. Areas where the EPS insulation needed to be rasped, and where powdered product was mixed, needed to be enclosed to eliminate atmospheric contamination. And there were some fine technical detailing between the insulated render system and balconies which required the use of bespoke profiles supported by PPG and Johnstone’s. Overall this was a highly demanding project whereby the intricate design and expectation was exceeded receiving glowing testimonial from the client.

Whilst the project was not without its challenges, it was completed within the specified timeframe and budget, showcasing commitment to delivering exceptional results.
