Aliva UK were tasked by LaMorada Construction to provide a cost-effective external wall insulation system to refurbish and thermally improve an existing 1960’s concrete framed office block in the heart of Crosby, Wirral. The EWI system had to achieve the look that had been approved by local planning officers with a lightweight brick slip chosen for aesthetic appearance, speed and also a value engineered commercially competitive alternative.
The existing building was formed by a concrete frame which was in need of concrete repairs, with a brick infill wall with a minimal cavity behind which provided a poor existing U-Value of 1.3W/m2k. Aliva UK specified their Termok8 Minerale external wall insulation system comprising of 100mm Mineral Wool, reinforced cementitious basecoat render and a lightweight brick slip to achieve 0.18W/m2k.
The lightweight brick slips supplied by Aliva UK consisted of a red multi slip with a pressed aluminium feature band at each slab level, This provided the aesthetics required for approval by both the local Authority Planning Department and also the client.
Aliva UK worked closely with LaMorada Construction and introduced INCA member Hamilton (Building Contractors) Limited to carry out the installation of the external wall insulation system.
In addition to the refurbishment works a new penthouse was constructed to the top level and was finished with Aliva Textured finish in white.
This building was a tired looking office block on the main road through Crosby and has been transformed into a block of high-end apartments which are adding to the re-development of the entire area.
Described as “an unmissable UK development based in one of Liverpool’s most popular suburban locations”
